earlier admitted from over 34,000 candidates who applied for admission into
akwa ibom state university. The statistics shows a 18% increase in capacity as
compared to the number of students who matriculated last year.
Addressing the freshmen, the Vice Chancellor, Pof. Eno James
Ibanga congratulated the students on their success into the institution which
form the basis for freedom to independence with seemingly unlimited scale, he
said freedom has a price as they must take responsibility of whatever choices
they make since one man’s freedom ends where another begins noting it eminent
for the freshmen to consciously and properly undertake the task of managing their
new found freedom in order to patronize their purposes in the university. He
went ahead to inform them that part of the ceremony requires they subscribe to
the matriculation oath through a public declaration which shall demand their loyalty
to the oath, willingness to submit to duly constituted authority throughout their
stay in the university with obedience to the stated rules and regulations
thereby upholding and promoting noble ideals and values which universities were
established for at the end. Matriculating students must sign and obtain their
numbers for use throughout their studentship in AKSU. He further urged the
students to use every information given them during orientation as they were
launched into the institution as well as their respective departmental
handbooks which will serve as a pilot lamp in academic matters .
On the side of school laws, the Vice Chancellor, Prof.Ibanga
strongly warned against three anti-social activities which the university will
not spare ; Students involvement in cultism, examination misconduct and indecentfacebook.com
dressing .Frankly, he told the matriculating students that Aksu has
zero tolerance for such things. He assures them of the state government involvement
in the development and the school commitment in disbursing internally generated
revenues which has made provisions for all academic and learning facilities
available for students while in the institution to aim high in their academic pursuits
,brought the even to an end by welcoming the visitors to the university; commissioner
for education Prof. Paul Alexander Udofia and a member representing Uruko/Orie
offiong at the State House.
Congratulations once again!!!.
